Just ordered my upgrade from Sony. Is anybody using it yet? any bugs (besides rewire) I should be aware of? Does it do all it looks like it can do?

Re: 6.0
Mon, April 17, 2006 - 5:45 PMThe new Acid Pro looks better. Does it have a newer improvised sound engine? They do not market this feature in the new version.
Curious ...

Re: 6.0
Tue, April 18, 2006 - 7:27 AMIt surely seems too, without looking into the depths I would say yes. Kontact is also a killer feature and so far has run seemlessly for me, though I am still trying to figure out how to enable my oxygen8 controler for it, if it's even possable.

Re: 6.0
Thu, April 20, 2006 - 11:44 AMJust got the upgrade to Acid Pro 6 last night and I can tell you right off the bat that I am impressed. Visually you don't see a lot of radical changes, there's a few extra bells and whistles and things are a little more compact and intuitive, but the real improvement is within the architecture of the software engine itself. It's hard to put my finger on precisely, but it just sounds nice, the syncing felt extremely rock solid and tight and everything purred along like a well-tuned engine. Even with hefty stacks of chopped up loops with VST effects, my VST synths on midi tracks and tempo changes - Acid 6 didn't hesitate or stutter once. Sony software designers have really tweaked things "under the hood" and the improvement on the overall performance is significant.
Other improvements I noted is the midi capabilities, making Acid finally step up and join the other professional sequencing competition. The ability to edit and draw in your midi notes right beside your loops of audio within the track view is brilliant - I'm not even sure I'll have to use Cakewalk Sonar 5 (my previous obsession!) anymore..
I think overall it's worth upgrading if you would like to potentially use Acid as your major sequencing and production software. If you are just happy using it as another tool in your studio arsenal you may be fine with sticking with an older version. Acid 6 is sleek, sophisticated and professional - 'nuff said. :)

Re: 6.0
Thu, June 1, 2006 - 9:05 AMI know this post comes a little late, but 6 is a great program!
i've been running it for over a month now and I am very pleased. No glitches, crashes or plug-in problems (as i have experinced in the past versions)
It's still very much the same old acid, but the midi capabilities ARE definately improved. Real-time envelope recording is a nice feature too.
Not too impressed with the kontact synth, but I'm not a huge fan of vsts in general. Acid 6 definately runs them better than before though.

Re: 6.0
Thu, June 1, 2006 - 10:10 AMI've been using it for about a month also. I have been having a little fun with the NI softsynth (other then the screwed up registration process they have in place).
I did push 6.0's envelope enough to crash it once, just to see what it would take and it took a lot, many more pluggins, softsynths and tracks then I would ever actualy use in a given project.
